NOTHING BUT THE TRUTH, SO HELP ME GOD!
On August 28, 2017 God very clearly asked me these questions:
“Are you willing to set down every man-made church tradition in order to discover MY truth? Are you willing to ask ME to teach you every truth there is to know about Me, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit? Would you be willing to do that, even if I led you to know something different then what your denomination teaches? Would you be willing to SACRIFICE what you think is truth for the TRUTH?”
Man-made church traditions can be summed up as anything that the various Christian denominations do not agree upon. Most Christian Churches agree upon the most important things about the Gospel of Jesus Christ, who he is and why he came to earth. But there are many things that the Christian denominations do not agree upon such as whether or not the “Baptism of the Holy Spirit” is a thing for today, whether there is such a thing as praying in a private “Spirit Language” (speaking in tongues), or whether or not God still speaks today to his children through dreams, visions, and prophesy.
What if what the denominations don’t agree upon could make an incredible difference in your life, in your congregation’s lives, in Jesus’s church body as a whole, if you knew the absolute truth about these issues directly from God. What if your denomination’s traditions are keeping the absolute truth from being preached, and made known, to you and your congregation? What if what you think is truth is actually wrong? Would you have regret at the end of your life knowing that you didn’t know, or benefit from, the truth your whole life, because it was never preached or taught, or because you never asked God or Jesus to clarify for you the absolute truth about these important subjects?
The apostle Paul is a perfect example of someone believing what his “denomination” taught as absolute truth.
Galatians 1:11-17, “For I would have you know, brethren, that the gospel which was preached by me is NOT MAN’S gospel. For I did not receive it from man, nor was I taught it, but it came through a revelation of Jesus Christ. For you have heard of my former life in Judaism, how I persecuted the church of God violently and tried to destroy it; and I advanced in Judaism beyond many of my age among my people, so extremely zealous was I for the TRADITIONS of my fathers. But when he [God] who had set me apart before I was born, and had called me through his grace, was pleased to reveal his Son to me, in order that I might preach him among the Gentiles, I did not confer with flesh and blood, nor did I go up to Jerusalem to those who were apostles before me, but I went away into Arabia; and again I returned to Damascus.”
Paul tells us that because he was so extremely zealous for the traditions of his fathers that he could not see the absolute truth of Jesus. He therefore persecuted the church of God, until he had a personal encounter with Jesus himself. Scripture also tells us that when Paul did finally discover the truth of Jesus that it was not because the apostles or any other man taught him the truth, but the truth came through a revelation of Jesus Christ himself. We know that Paul learned everything he needed to know about Jesus Christ when he went away into Arabia for 3 years, before he began preaching to the Gentiles.
During Paul’s time away I can imagine that Jesus appeared to Paul through visions, dreams, and words of knowledge, so that all of the traditions of Paul’s fathers was completely removed, washed away, from his heart and mind, so that the absolute truth of Jesus could be made completely known and experienced. Remember, since Paul went away to Arabia there was nothing for Paul to read or hear about Jesus. The Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John were not written yet for Paul to read, and from his own words he didn’t confer with flesh and blood in order to know the absolute truth. Therefore, over these 3 years Paul received revelation of the truth from Jesus and God himself.
For Paul, it was the traditions of men, the Jewish traditions that kept him from seeing the absolute truth of Jesus. Paul believed he knew the truth, but he didn’t. Because he didn’t know the truth, in his former life, he had Christians put to death, thinking he was doing the right thing. In Paul’s case, Jesus himself first encountered Paul (previously named Saul) on the road to Damascus. Jesus said to Paul, “Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?” (Acts 9:4) Jesus revealed to Paul, through a vision, what he believed about him was not truth. As a result of this personal encounter with Jesus, Paul rejected the traditions of his fathers and, instead, accepted the absolute truth that Jesus was the Son of Yahweh, his Messiah.
Since Biblical times the Church also has been inundated with “traditions of the fathers.” In the year 1517, Martin Luther helped change the traditions of men with his courage and boldness when he questioned the Catholic Church on their interpretation of scripture. God used Martin Luther to identify some very critical traditions of the Catholic Church that were not truth, which he discovered after reading the Bible for himself. As you may know Martin Luther’s courageous actions began what is called the Protestant Reformation. The key ideas of the Reformation was a call to purify the church, and a belief that the Bible, not tradition, should be the sole source of spiritual authority.
Martin Luther’s actions went a long way in pointing out the lies that the Church believed to be truth in the year 1517. However, since then, an abundance of different Christian Protestant denominations have sprung up all over the world, because men, AGAIN, cannot agree to what is the absolute truth of God’s Word, even though we each have the same Bible available to read.
So who is right? Who is wrong? There is only ONE truth or it wouldn’t be called truth!
There are many churches today who don’t teach that there is an additional “Baptism of the Holy Spirit” in addition to water baptism, as described in Acts 1 and 2, because they don’t believe it is for believers of today. But what if their theology is completely wrong? What if Christians all over the world are receiving less than EVERYTHING the Holy Spirit has to offer them, because Satan has successfully squashed the truth of the Baptism of the Holy Spirit from being taught? Satan doesn’t want God’s children to receive power and boldness when the Holy Spirit and fire falls upon them from heaven like it did the first disciples.
There are also many churches who don’t teach about the gift of speaking in tongues that often accompanies the receiving of the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, because again they don’t believe that this is a gift for today’s believers. Again, what if they are completely wrong? What if Satan has successfully squashed the truth about this gift because even he knows about the amazing things that transpire when God’s children speak in God’s Spiritual Language like Paul taught.
Some churches believe that God doesn’t speak to his children through dreams, visions or through prophesy. Even though God used to speak to his children in these ways, as seen throughout Scripture, these churches don’t believe that way of communicating is for today’s believers. Therefore, they don’t teach anything about the myriad of ways in which God speaks. But what if they are wrong? What if God does still speaks in the same ways he spoke to his children in Biblical times through dreams, visions and prophesy? What if Christians all over the world are not hearing what God has to personally say to them because they have never been taught that he still speaks and are therefore not paying attention, or even expecting communication with their Creator, Lord, and Savior.
What is interesting is that Scripture says…
Acts 2:17, “And in the last days it shall be, God declares, that I will pour out my Spirit upon all flesh, and your sons and daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams.”
According to Peter this truth went into effect on the day he spoke these words, almost 2000 years ago.
So who is right? Paul? Peter? The Bible? The churches?
What if this whole time Satan has been keeping a lid on these kinds of communication between God and his children, because even Satan knows what happens when believers have personal encounters of hearing and seeing Yahweh and Jesus’ majestic voice. Even Satan knows that believers will become spiritually alive, transformed, and bold when they have a personal encounter with Jesus like Paul did. What if the traditions of men in our churches of today have fallen for Satan’s lies, and because of it the absolute truth is not being taught to believer’s of today?
But please, don’t accept my word, or any other man’s word on these subjects as the truth. What God is asking me and you, today, is " Are willing to set aside what you think is truth for the absolute truth?" Just like Paul, God wants to reveal the absolute truth to you himself, about the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, about the gift of speaking in tongues, about his various ways of divine communication.
All you have to do is ask him to teach you the truth. God doesn’t need a preacher or teacher, or flesh and blood, to teach you the truth. Just like Paul wasn’t taught by flesh and blood, and just like Martin Luther didn’t believe what the priests were teaching in his church, you don’t have to believe what you are being taught or not taught. Both Martin Luther and Paul were taught the absolute truth about God and Jesus through the Holy Spirit living within them.
Personally I believe that God still speaks through dreams, visions and prophesy, because I experience these ways of communication with my Heavenly Father regularly, and receive great revelation in my every day life because of them. I also personally believe that there is a Baptism of the Holy Spirit that gives additional power and boldness to God’s believers, because I have experienced it first hand. The day Jesus baptized me with the Holy Spirit and fire, which occurred 12 years after the day of my salvation, is a day I will never forget, because it’s as if the heavens have been opened over me ever since. Furthermore, I believe in the gift of speaking in tongues because I have personally received this gift, utilize it regularly, and know without a doubt that my walk with Jesus has been edified and empowered because of it just as Paul taught it would.
What’s interesting is that none of the churches that I regularly attended over my entire life had ever taught me about these subjects. I was never taught about them by flesh and blood. All of this came about in my life because one night I asked God to give me “Everything the Holy Spirit has to offer me.” I said, “Don’t hold back!” Well, God didn’t hold back. On that night I received the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, the gift of tongues and an awakening of my senses to hear and see my Lord and Savior’s majestic voice clearly. On that night an overflowing amount of heavenly gifts were poured upon me. Before this night, of asking God for the truth, every one of these precious gifts were foreign to me.
One final thought to consider:
